Teaching for Critical Thinking: In this one-day workshop and using course design concepts, you will: 1) identify your requirements for critical thinking, 2) learn how to build these into your courses, and 3) determine how to assess your required critical thinking outcomes. At the end of the workshop, you will have developed a template for your courses that will assist you in infusing critical thinking into the course requirements and building students’ capability to think critically.
Reserved for faculty members. The LTC will provide coffee/tea for the morning and lunch for all participants. A Certificate of Completion will be awarded upon completion.
Assigning, Designing and Assessing
During this session, Gerry Gourlay, the Teaching Assistant Consultant (TAC) from the department of Biology, will be sharing what she learned from attending sessions (from May 10 to 12) at Vancouver Island University’s (VIU) annual teaching and learning conference that focused on assessment. Gerry will have hand-outs from these sessions to share with those who attend.
